MY SO CALLED BAND is a collection of Norman musicians whose shared love of the 1990s brought them together to form the band. Initially, the idea of playing 90s songs seemed daunting—where do you start with one of the greatest decades in music?—but soon became a challenge that the five were eager to accept.
Friends before they were band mates, MY SO CALLED BAND features Kyle Davis from indie/psych group Evangelicals, Carly Gwin and Ricky Salthouse from the rock group The Workweek, Brian Stansberry of Over Stars and Gutters and multi-instrumentalist Aaron Daniels. The group has been featured in the Oklahoma Gazette, Norman Transcript and the Oklahoma Daily, and has played sold out shows at The Deli and Coach’s Brewhouse in Norman and The Blue Note in Oklahoma City.
MY SO CALLED BAND is a party band that is perfect for any group of people that love the music of the ‘90s. The group focuses on diversity, whether its rock staples by Third Eye Blind, Weezer or Alanis Morissette—country ala Garth Brooks, Dixie Chicks or Billy Ray Cyrus—the hip hop jams of Dr. Dre and Snoop Doggy Dogg, Warren G or Beastie Boys—pop-punk from artists like Blink 182, Rancid or Green Day—pop hits by Hanson, Ace of Base, or The Cardigans, or even 90s college rock from Pavement, Radiohead and Flaming Lips.
MY SO CALLED BAND is the perfect choice for class reunions, Greek parties, birthdays, company parties, and weddings and boasts a catalog of over 80 songs from the era. With an earnest and professional take on varied styles of the ‘90s, MY SO CALLED BAND will have the entire crowd dancing, singing along and having a truly fun and unique evening.
Faster than a White Ford Bronco and cooler than a glass of Crystal Pepsi, MY SO CALLED BAND are ready to make any event an exciting and unforgettable experience!
